Following the success of Disney’s live action Maleficent and Alice in Wonderland, it has been announced that the House of Mouse will give the live action treatment to beloved classic Dumbo.
The Hollywood Reporter report that the film will be written by Transformers franchise scribe Ehren Kruger with Tron: Legacy and Oblivion’s Justin Springer producing alongside Kruger.
The adaptation of the 1941 classic that follows the exploits of a circus Elephant with large ears, giving him the ability to fly joins the live action slate of beloved classics that includes Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast that are currently in the works at Disney.
Dumbo is one of Disney’s shortest feature films with a runtime of 64 minutes and won an Oscar for best scoring of a musical picture and was nominated for best original song for “Baby Mine”.

Italian artist Maby-Chan has given our beloved Disney and Dreamworks characters a genderswapped makeover !
In her illustrations, Elsa from Frozen is turned into a man while Captain Hook from Peter Pan is transformed into a lady.
Maby-Chan has done a fantastic job of retaining each character’s costumes while translating them into their opposite genders.
Can you guess who’s who?
The Girls: Female Captain Hook (Peter Pan), Female Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean), Female Jafar (Aladdin)
The Boys: Male Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty), Male Elsa (Frozen), Male Rapunzel (Tangled)

Artist Paul Westover has created this new range of illustrations: Disney Princesses as Uni students!
The stereotypes are pretty accurate: Cinderella’s always cleaning up after her roomies, Mulan’s tryna dress up as something that she’s not every opportunity she gets, Merida’s on drugs (???), and Aurora sleeps through the entire semester.
What do you think?

This tale is told from the perspective of the villainous Maleficent played by Angelina Jolie and looks at the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse young Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning).
With Robert Stromberg directing and Sharlto Copley, Juno Temple. Brenton Thwaites, Imelda Staunton, Sam Riley, Lesley Manville, Kenneth Cranham and Jolie’s daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, Maleficent is due out in Cinemas May 2014.

A while back, we shared with you David Kawena’s Disney’s handsome heroes. Yesterday, the talented Graphic Designer released a portrait for Kristoff (currently starring in Disney’s Frozen in Cinemas – if you haven’t seen it yet, you must!) We absolutely love the detail in his features, he’s different from the other heroes and his gaze is actually pretty dreamy!
“When it came to work Kristoff – a more buff, bulky guy then your average hero type – I wanted to capture as much as possible of his physique inside the frame. Also, I wanted to give him a bit more ‘character’ then in the film, something that would speak about his life growing up with the trolls. It was a part I felt the movie completely ignored and gave no insight into. Here Kristoff is presented with his own crystal necklace like each member of the trolls tribe is wearing. I also gave his ‘out-fit’ a bit of more tribal look, based on the Smai people culture and some of the principal character designs from the production of the film.
For the digital painting David used Photoshop CS5, Wacom Intous 4 Large, and he works on an iMac computer. David also said it was “probably one of the most enjoyable times” he’d ever had working on a Disney Hero!
We can’t wait for the next addition to his Disney range.
*Unforgettably these are not for sale, they just fan-based art for fun & sharing on the internet.
